When the Story Changed1 min read

Believe it or not, until the 2nd or 3rd year in my undergraduate studies, I was planning to end up as a rural jungle Christian missionary.

I was tired of reading missionary organisations begging for people to join them.

I figured “I’ll go as one person less they will need to beg”.

That was until God changed the story of my life. And told me that this was not the plan for me.

My best friend in school used to joke that “Tola was probably training to be a monk before he became born-again. Though he is converted, the old monastic lifestyle is still very much alive in him”

We laugh about it.

But honestly, I was training myself to enter the jungles and be ok.

I had read stories of Operation Auca (Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian), Bruchko (Bruce Olson), Koma Hills Missionaries and the likes.

I was ready to add myself to the ones that went – not considering the personal outcome.

I am still one of those that went

I just go everyday into a different jungle.

It’s the modern day jungle of the workplace.

I am still a missionary…just in a different missionfield

And I want to be found faithful.
